Bloober Team rolled out Silent Hill 2 update 1.003.000 over the weekend, and although we couldn’t find official patch notes, players say that it has fixed a major issue. Apparently, a localization blooper in the game caused some players to be hit with a massive spoiler right at the beginning of the campaign.
Silent Hill 2 update 1.003.000 details (October 4, 2024)
According to Italian players, a translation error within the first 30 minutes of Silent Hill 2 displayed text that ended up spoiling the plot. They quickly banded together to notify Bloober Team, who was equally quick to take action.
Over on Reddit (avoid clicking if you don’t want to be hit with spoilers), a player confirmed that they were among those who reported the blooper to the devs a week ago, and following the latest patch, it appears to have been fixed.
We’re not sure what else the patch does (yet), but we still advise downloading it if you’re purchasing Silent Hill 2 on disc. The game will release worldwide tomorrow, October 8, but many have already been playing it since last week, thanks to broken street dates followed by early access.
We’ll update this post with patch notes if/when they’re released.
