Sony has surprised some players with tons of PS Stars points simply for completing a campaign that involves playing free games. Campaigns were broken for well over a week but were fixed by the weekend, following which some players randomly earned between 250-500 points for playing a game from the PS Plus Essential monthly catalog.
Sony’s generous PS Stars points offer could be a glitch
We first saw reports of Sony offering 250–500 points for completing the PS Plus monthly games campaign when the lineup went live, but since the program was busted, no one earned anything. However, when PS Stars started working again over the weekend, players reported that they actually received the promised points.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, but we still don’t know if it’s a glitch or not. Players from various regions and with different PS Plus subscriptions have reported receiving the bonus points, so there isn’t a pattern here that we can establish either.
The aforementioned campaign typically awards only 50 points, so it’s understandable why players think 250-500 points is a glitch. We’ll continue to dig into this and will report back if we find something. In the meantime, if you see campaigns worth hundreds of points, complete them as quickly as possible.
