God of War Ragnarok Will Be PS5 Pro Enhanced, Sony Confirms

Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment‘s beloved action game God of War Ragnarok will be PS5 Pro enhanced. Although both parties have yet to acknowledge it, the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag has been added to the game’s PlayStation Store page.

How will PS5 Pro enhance God of War Ragnarok

As of writing, there are no specific details on how PS5 Pro will enhance God of War Ragnarok. However, looking at the features on PC may give us an idea of what we can expect.

According to the God of War Ragnarok PC page, players can enjoy unlocked framerates and 4K resolution if the proper hardware is present. It also has enhanced screen space reflections, lighting, and shadows. Additionally, upscaling technologies NVIDIA RTX DLSS, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS 1.2 are all supported.

Additionally, while this may not be true for every studio, it does seem developers are creating a PS5 Pro specific graphics option that utilizes the new hardware. For example, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has a “Pro Mode” that uses the PS5 Pro’s AI upsampling tech, PSSR, to enhance its overall visual fidelity.

This is all speculation, so please take this with a grain of salt. Like TLOU Part 2 Remastered, God of War Ragnarok will probably utilize PSSR to create a more noticeably detailed final picture, with a 60 frames per second target. I don’t see Santa Monica Studio adding ray traced reflections, but like its PC counterpart, will probably improve its screen space reflections, lighting, and shadows. However, none of this is confirmed, so we’ll just have to wait until Sony gives the breakdown of the enhanced version.

PS5 Pro launches November 7, 2024. There are currently over 50 games receiving console specific graphics options including Alan Wake 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
