Life Is Strange: Double Exposure‘s first two episodes were released in early access on October 15, and as expected, Square Enix‘s “pay-to-play-early” plan turned out to be a disaster. Forget spoiling the first two episodes before everyone else got to play them, dataminers have managed to leak almost the entire game.
Life Is Strange: Double Exposure’s early access is a baffling decision by Square Enix
When Square Enix first announced that Life Is Strange: Double Exposure’s Ultimate Edition will come with a two-week early access period for the first two episodes, many expressed their bewilderment because the game is narrative heavy and spoilers would be inevitable.
It was just a day ago that Eurogamer expressed concerns about this, noting that the first two episodes carry a major chunk of the five-episode story. This morning, I stumbled into a Reddit thread which contains — surprise, surprise — almost the entire game’s plot because dataminers got their hands on Double Exposure’s files.
I won’t link to the thread here, but it’s in a popular subreddit and I’m sure people will come across it at some point. Square Enix deserves a medal for this one, though. The company found a great way to ruin a game and went through with it without a second thought.
I feel sorry for the folks over at Deck Nine.
