It seems Naughty Dog is readying itself for PS5 Pro‘s launch. The developer has already released The Last of Us 2 Remastered PS5 Pro patch, which features support for the enhanced console, and additional minor fixes.
The Last of Us 2 Remastered PS5 Pro Patch 1.2 also includes minor fixes
The Last of Us 2 Remastered looks to be one of the showcase titles for the upcoming PS5 Pro. As analyzed by tech experts Digital Foundry, the new “Pro Mode” essentially eliminates the need for either graphics or performance priority modes. It will render the game at 1440p, and leverage the upgraded console’s unique machine learning upscaling technology PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to bring the output up to 4K while still maintaining 60 frames per second. The patch notes do confirm that both Performance and Fidelity rendering modes will still be available, and benefit from the PS5 Pro with higher framerates, and a generally smoother experience.
This is pretty obvious, but it is noted that players must have a PS5 Pro and a compatible display to access The Last of Us 2 Remastered PS5 Pro mode.
Additionally, the new patch includes several minor fixes that will certainly improve The Last of Us 2 Remastered. Most notably for trophy hunters, an issue where some trophies would not unlock after importing PS4 save data is now fixed. Also, an issue where Abby’s torso could disappear when switching between bonus skins is also fixed. As funny as that is, it’s probably not ideal to have Abby punching Clickers in the face without a torso. Anyone who wants to check the full patch notes can view them here.
The Last of Us 2 Remastered is just one of many games receiving PS5 Pro enhancements. Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and God of War Ragnarok are just a few of the games getting visual overhauls for the upcoming console.
