A number of players looking forward to PS Plus Black Friday 2024 discount have been left frustrated as the offer isn’t available to them. We recently reported that Sony has been increasingly moving towards personalized offers that vary from player to player, which means discounts are also offered at random. However, being snubbed during one of the biggest promotions of the year understandably isn’t going down well with players.
PS Plus Black Friday 2024 discount explained
Over on the PS Blog, Sony announced that new players will be eligible for a 30% discount on any 12-month PS Plus membership plan. For existing players, those upgrading from Essential to Extra/Premium or from Extra to Premium are eligible to receive a discount.
However, those — especially Premium members who have nothing to upgrade to — who simply want to renew or extend their subscriptions have been entered into some kind of a lottery system for a discount.
On Reddit, existing subscribers are reporting varying discounts on extending/renewing current memberships. Others — myself included — have not been offered a discount at all. As an Essential member, I see a 30% saving when upgrading from Essential to Premium, and 25% when upgrading to Extra. However, I have to pay the full price for an extension if I stick to my plan.
As frustrating as this is, Sony has been making random offers for years now. They’ve just become more noticeable due to an increased push towards personalized promotions.
