A UPS facility in Ontario, California has allegedly been “returning” PS5/PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundles to Sony, leaving players confused and upset. Those tracking their limited edition consoles noticed an unusual update from UPS, which states that the items are being returned due to “hazardous materials irregularity.”
Players fear theft of PS5/PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundles
We were first contacted about the issue by a reader who shared screenshots of their tracking screen with us. Upon digging around a little, I discovered a number of Reddit threads where players lodged similar complaints. All complaints have the same thing in common: packages originating from Ontario, California, marked as being returned to sender for hazardous materials irregularity.
Affected players — who are based in different states — have been contacting both UPS and PlayStation Support, but have had no luck getting an answer, leading them to suspect theft of their packages. While many of the affected customers purchased the highly limited PS5 Pro bundles, a small number of those impacted by this bizarre situation claim that they purchased the PS5 Slim consoles.
Considering that there’s a PlayStation 30th anniversary logo on the box the items are shipped in, it’s no surprise that players are worried that their packages have been stolen. However, this is just speculation at the moment.
We’ll keep an eye on the situation. If you’ve been impacted, feel free to reach out to us.
