Sony’s reportedly gearing up to drop some PlayStation news and announcements soon, but there’s still no word on an event in December 2024. Reliable leaker billbil-kun, who has an excellent track record, has teased that Sony’s making quite a lot of preparations behind the scenes for some “fresh news” and announcements.
PlayStation may not have an event in December 2024, but Sony won’t be silent
In response to recent speculations that Sony teased a State of Play or PlayStation Showcase to coincide with the console’s 30th anniversary, billbil-kun said that while they don’t know (yet) whether an event is planned or not, they do know that PlayStation announcements are being prepared.
Given billbil-kun’s history, we’re positive that their report is accurate. Besides, it would be strange for Sony to not have any news or announcements to mark the console’s 30th anniversary.
Over the weekend, there were speculations that God of War‘s Kratos voice actor Chris Judge was teasing multiple announcements, but Judge dismissed those claims.
As for a PlayStation event in December, while billbil-kun claims that they don’t have any information about that, journalist Jeff Grubb previously dismissed fan speculations. Grubb said that while Sony will be celebrating PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, fans should temper expectations for a proper event.
Both these reports seem plausible, but we recommend taking them with a grain of salt until official confirmation.
