Baldur’s Gate 3 is arguably the best game that released in 2023. Receiving several Game of the Year awards, it is clearly a game that has impacted the gamers that played it. However, it lacked several highly requested features that Patch 8 will finally add.
What are the new features coming with Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8?
Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 is the next major update for the beloved RPG. Planned to release early next year, the update will add cross-play, photo mode, and 12 new subclasses. This patch will be available on all platforms, including the PS5.
As detailed on the recent Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, cross-play will allow players to play across different platforms. Whether you’re on PS5, PC, Xbox, or Mac, players will have the ability to connect with each other. Anyone who wants to use this feature will have to enable cross-play, and have a Larian Network account.
Photo mode is also making its way to Baldur’s Gate 3 allowing players to take pictures during their adventures. The mode features camera settings that allows players to focus on specific characters in a party, lens settings, scene settings, post processing effects, frames, and stickers to create unique photos. Photo mode can be used both during play and cinematics. However, camera and lens settings can’t be adjusted during cinematic scenes.
Lastly, Patch 8 will add 12 new subclasses for each existing class. These will all feature new abilities, animations, VFX, summons, and cantrips. Here are all the new subclasses being added to Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Larian Studios will be stress testing Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3. Interested PS5 players will be able to register before the testing in January. The company will go through those steps in their next Community Update.
