Mortal Kombat 1 development ending - report

Mortal Kombat 1 Development Reportedly Winding Down

An increasing number of insiders are indicating that Mortal Kombat 1 development is ending following reports that the game’s future DLC has been canned. A well-known modder and dataminer within the Mortal Kombat community claims to have heard from several sources that the game might not receive any new content following T-1000.

Why Mortal Kombat 1 development is possibly ending sooner than expected

Mortal Kombat 1 released to positive reviews but didn’t quite garner support from the community like its predecessors. It has been reported that Khaos Reigns saw poor sales, resulting in NetherRealm cancelling plans for Kombat Pack 3 and a second story expansion.

Thethiny’s sources have said that it’s possible NetherRealm will finish off and release the content that was in the pipeline, but at this point, Mortal Kombat 1’s future doesn’t seem certain.

As a Mortal Kombat fan, I felt that MK1 left a lot to be desired in terms of story and direction. The Invasions mode was fun for a little bit, but became repetitive and tiring pretty fast. The XP grind for Kameo characters also felt atrocious. I’m one trophy short of the Platinum but have little motivation to go back. But these are just my personal gripes.
