December isn’t reserved just for the holidays. With the year almost at its end, we are officially in Game of the Year season. Spanning 19 categories, PlayStation Blog asked fans to vote for their favorite video games. The results are in, and several fan-favorites, like Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong, took home some trophies.
Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong each take home a Platinum
For PS Blog’s Game of the Year awards, 1.6 million fans voted globally, and all the winners are chosen by voters. Each of the 19 categories features four games, each of which earned a trophy. However, the title that earns the Platinum is the winner of the category.
Here are the Platinum trophy winners of PS Blog’s 2024 Game of the Year:
- Best New Character: Eve (Stellar Blade)
- Best Story: Silent Hill 2
- Best Graphical Showcase: Black Myth: Wukong
- Best Art Direction: Astro Bot
- Best Audio Design: Astro Bot
- Best Soundtrack: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Best Use of DualSense: Astro Bot
- Best Accessibility Features: Astro Bot
- Best Multiplayer Experience: Helldivers 2
- Best Ongoing Game: Fortnite
- Best Expansion: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
- Best Sports Game: EA Sports FC 25
- Best Rerelease: The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- Best Independent Game: Balatro
- Best PS VR2 Game: Resident Evil 4 VR Mode
- Best PS4 Game: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
- Best PS5 Game: Astro Bot
- Studio of the Year: Team Asobi (Astro Bot)
- Most Anticipated Game of 2025 and Beyond: Ghost of Yotei
Clearly, Astro Bot took home the most Platinum trophies. Considering these awards are from PlayStation proper, and catered to PlayStation fans, it makes sense Team Asobi would be the top dog. Interestingly, Astro Bot was the only game to win multiple Platinum trophies. Fan-favorite games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Black Myth: Wukong, and Stellar Blade took home trophies, but each only took home just one Platinum.
