No PlayStation Rival in Some European Markets as Xbox Leaves – Report

A fresh batch of reports claim that PlayStation has very little, if any, competition left in some European countries as Xbox hardware is disappearing from store shelves. This follows previous reports of Microsoft scaling back hardware sales in the Middle East, with the company now promoting the message that virtually every device is an Xbox.

Xbox isn’t done with hardware, but PlayStation has little competition left

The latest report comes from Poland, with website Chip.pl reporting that finding an Xbox Series X is becoming increasingly difficult. Users who have contacted Microsoft Support have claimed that they’ve been told that the company is shifting its focus to services like cloud gaming and Game Pass.

We spotted recent threads on the Xbox subreddit with similar claims from users based in Poland. In response to the report, players across ResetEra and Reddit have reported that Poland isn’t the only country that Xbox hardware is apparently disappearing from. The console is reportedly hard to find in countries like Finland and Netherlands, among others, as well.

Microsoft’s statements and marketing messages have left fans confused. On one hand, the company is doubling down on hardware, and has plans for a handheld. On the other hand, it’s putting out ads stressing than anything can be an Xbox with a Game Pass subscription, which players say is actively discouraging them from purchasing an Xbox console.
