Another PS5, PS4 Platinum Trophy Lost to Server Shutdown

As players continue to debate the issue of PS5, PS4 trophies becoming unobtainable due to server shutdowns, another game bites the dust. As of today, WWE 2K23‘s servers have been disabled, locking players out of a number of trophies including the coveted Platinum.

PS5, PS4 players want Sony to address the issue of multiplayer trophies

PlayStation players continue to petition Sony to remove multiplayer trophy requirements for the Platinum, especially in primarily single-player games with online add-ons. Some have suggested that Sony should mandate developers to make necessary changes to trophy lists and remove multiplayer trophies, should they choose to shut servers down.

Frankly, neither of the above sound like suggestions Sony would take on board. While this is certainly annoying, trophy hunting is still a relatively niche activity.

As for WWE 2K23, publisher 2K has said that “all online functions, such as online matches and Community Creations” will no longer function. Those who own the title can continue to play offline. The game itself as well as its add-ons have been delisted as of November 1, 2024.

With WWE 2K23 now permanently offline, WWE 2K24 is the only game in the franchise with online functionality. If any of our readers own the game and care for trophies, we advise wrapping up your progress before the end of 2025.
