It was only a matter of time. According to insider NateDrake, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series will lose PS5 console exclusivity this year. Remake is already on PC, with Rebirth coming to PC later this month.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth reportedly coming to Xbox
In a recent episode of the Nate The Hate Podcast, industry insider NateDrake had some predictions for and leaks from what they believe will be at this months Xbox Developer Direct. One claim is that Square Enix will have their own little section during the showcase where they will announce Remake and Rebirth’s arrival on Xbox Series X|S.
“We will see Square Enix confirm that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be coming to Xbox. Now, my speculation is that this announcement will take place at the Developer Direct; I want to make that part clear,” says NateDrake. “But I can confirm that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be coming to Xbox. Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released in 2025, Rebirth will follow in 2026.”
During this specific segment, they also said they believe Final Fantasy XVI will come to Xbox Series X|S. They also say they think it will be a shadow drop similar to Death Stranding.
It is no secret that people involved with the Remake series would like to see its games go multiplatform. After Square Enix financial results stating Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth “did not meet expectations,” franchise producer Yishinori Kitase weighed in on the matter. While Kitase doesn’t believe the game flopped, he stated they cannot stay exclusive.
In the same podcast, the insider claimed Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator will come to PS5 later this year.
If you want to see if these claims come to fruition, the Xbox Developer Direct will be held on January 23.
