New details of an upcoming PlayStation live service game, code named project Gummy Bears, have been leaked. Gummy Bears was originally a Bungie project, which the studio described back then as a “team-based action game inspired by several genres in a brand-new, science-fantasy universe.” Sony has since handed the game over to a new internal PlayStation Studios team.
Newly leaked details of PlayStation live service game code named Gummy Bears
According to information unearthed by The Game Post, Gummy Bears is a MOBA inspired by Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. series. The game will reportedly feature “lo-fi and cozy vibes,” and plans to target players from all age groups with its funky, vibrant aesthetics.
Bungie previously published early concept art from the game on its official website, which we’re sharing again below.
The Game Post further reports that Gummy Bears will feature various character roles, including support, attack, and defense. Like Smash Bros., players can knock each other off maps entirely. Additionally, the game will reportedly feature a percentage-based health system as opposed to traditional player health bars.
Fans’ response to these details have been mixed, to say the least. While some players think the concept sounds like fun (at least on paper), others say the leak has turned them off already.
“I don’t see it doing well though and am somewhat baffled by this decision,” wrote one player. “This sounds kinda fun. I don’t even like MOBAs,” wrote another. “They want that Fortnite money,” opined a third.
