Until Dawn Movie Gets First Look, Players Remain Skeptical

Sony Pictures Entertainment has just released a first look trailer for Until Dawn movie to a mixed reaction from players. The movie doesn’t follow the game and its intended audience isn’t strictly gamers, but it’s understandably getting a lot of attention from Until Dawn fans.

Until Dawn movie expands upon the universe, says Sony

In the trailer below, producer David F. Sandberg explains that the showrunners didn’t want to give the audience the same story as the game, but at the same time, wanted to expand upon its universe. As a result, the movie’s tone and vibe should feel familiar to players.

“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers,” reads an official synopsis. “Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different.”

It’s an interesting premise, but players remain skeptical. Many have said that they hope Wendigos are still part of the story.

“If this wasn’t labeled, I would have had no idea that was Until Dawn,” wrote one commenter. “It’s not Until Dawn, but it’s a cool idea for a horror movie,” wrote another. “Until Dawn’s signature was about Wendigos, so where’s the monsters?” a third questioned.
