Vanquish Sales Leave Sega Feeling Encouraged

With Vanquish having only been on store shelves for around a week now, the Platinum Games developed, 3rd-person shooter has been doing rather well on the sales charts.

Vanquish has reportedly moved over 53,000 units with the momentum building. Speaking with IGN, Mike Hayes President and CEO of Sega West stated the following regarding Vanquish‘s day-1 sales:

“It’s been in the marketplace for two days, we’ve seen the day one numbers and we’re reasonably encouraged, but I think we need to see the rest of week one and probably week two just to see how it’s going to play out,”

“The challenge is that it’s a new franchise and that it’s releasing head-to-head with a lot of established franchises in the busiest time of the year.”

For a new franchise, Vanquish is definitely doing well enough to carve out its own place among the gaming elite, with overall positive review scores throughout the industry. Hopefully this will mean more awesome titles from Platinum Games and perhaps a major shift in Sega’s current reputation in industry.
