Movie Based on Madden Curse Heads to the Line

The ‘Madden Curse‘ is an urban myth that came into existence after numerous cover athletes from the Madden game suffered career ending injuries. Publisher Electronic Arts has seen the funny side of the curse and have announced that they are planning a movie based on the myth.

The movie itself will be a sports comedy that deals with the actual curse itself. The movie will not revolve around an athlete, but actually a Madden videogame champion. Here are just a few of the people that have been hurt after appearing on the cover:

  • Madden 2002: Dante Culpepper – season ending knee injury.
  • Madden 2003: Marshall Faulk – ankle injury throughout the year.
  • Madden 2004: Michael Vick – broken leg during pre-season game.

These are just 3 of the long list of injuries that have occurred to the athletes that have graced the cover of the Madden series. It will be interesting to see how this movie pans out that is being produced by Pat O’Brien, who is the VP of EA Entertainment.
