Creators of the EverQuest series, Sony Online Entertainment are known for developing quality MMOs that are not only critical successes, but also commercial ones. But the success of SOE’s previous titles seems to pale in comparison to DC Universe Online, which is now their “fastest selling game ever”.
John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, announced on his twitter that even though the game had stock shortages it was smashing all their previous records:
Working on out-of-stock problems for DCUO. It’s ou[r] fastest selling game ever. Should have more inventory in Monday.
Not only are retail copies of the game selling in high quantities, but DCUO is also selling very well digitally, with Smedley saying:
We were #1 in sales on Steam last week!
