With 3G, a 4 Core CPU, GPS, 2 cameras and SixAxis as just some of the features of the ultra-powerful OLED screened ‘Next Generation Portable’, many feared that the NGP would be rather expensive. While an official price hasn’t been announced, Andrew House has assuaged some fears that they will price themselves out of the market, promising that it will be “affordable”.
House, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s CEO, spoke to Eurogamer:
I can’t put a ballpark on it in terms of figures, but what I would say is that we will shoot for an affordable price that’s appropriate for the handheld gaming space.
But he also said that they were aiming to sell the NGP at a profit:
Ideally we would want to have our hardware be profitable, in addition to our software,” he said. “We’ve experienced both sides and we know which one we like to be on!
