PS3 Patch Unveils New Mass Effect 2 DLC

Mass Effect 2 finally launched on the PS3 over a month ago and arrived with rave reviews. This particular console release came bundled with the previously released downloadable content, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be more.

Just another short and sweet update for Mass Effect 2, but since BioWare hasn’t officially announced any kind of news at the moment, it’s a pretty big deal. The new trophies, all three, are collected in a new expansion called “Arrival.” The official BioWare forums (where this leak originated) are ablaze with theories over whatever it could be about. Here is a picture of the three trophies:

Those who are very familiar with Mass Effect 2 in recent days might recognize the name “Dr. Amanda Kenson.” The good doctor was just named in a Cerberus Network update, with this context.

Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus … “Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years,” she writes, “The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans.” … What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?”

Interesting. The “arrival” could be talking about the Reapers’ return, the main focus of Mass Effect 2. But we won’t know anything until BioWare gives a more official announcement. Stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for all your Mass Effect 2 news.
