Battlefield 3 Release Date, Beta Confirmed

During their E3 press conference, publisher Electronic Arts announced the worldwide release date for Battlefield 3, as well as confirming the shooter’s upcoming multiplatform beta.

Battlefield 3 is currently scheduled for a worldwide launch on October 25th, 2011. That’s only a few weeks away from the release date of the shooter’s main competitor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with Activision and Infinity Ward’s title set to launch on November 8th, 2011.

Consumers who purchased Medal of Honor will be guaranteed beta access for Battlefield 3. The beta for DICE’s forthcoming game is set to go live on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime this September.

DICE producer Patrick Bach said:

We are proud to finally open the curtains and reveal Battlefield 3. The core development team has been together since 2005. We’ve grown together, taken some knocks together and now, we’re ready to take first person shooters to a whole new level, together.

Bach continued:

Like so many gamers out there, we’ve had some pretty wild ideas about what we’d want to see in a shooter. Until now, it was all just fantasy. But with Frostbite 2, even our most far-reaching ideas are becoming a reality. This is the game we’ve always wanted to create.
