OPM Claims Fourth TimeSplitters “to be Announced Soon”

While Crytek’s German branch might be working on a new FPS IP, Crytek UK are apparently working on a new TimeSplitters, according to a rumor from the Official PlayStation Magazine UK.

The ‘Rumour Machine’ page in the September issue of the magazine says:

Gun-wielding monkeys are making a comeback! A fourth TimeSplitters title is to be announced soon.

Due to the disastrous Haze, the last game in the series to release was TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, way back in 2005. Haze financially crippled Free Radical, causing the company to fall into administration, only to be saved by Crytek in 2009.

Co-found of Crytek, Avni Yerli previously had this to say about a new TimeSplitters:

Obviously TimeSplitters, historically, was for them [Crytek UK] an important IP. From our perspective we always had a lot of fun playing TimeSplitters – TimeSplitters 2 was amazing fun. Crytek and Crytek UK are interested in the IP; we are thinking about it but we’re trying to decide what we could do best with the IP, where we could bring it. There are no concrete plans yet.
