PS Vita’s North American and European Release Date Finally Revealed

Jealous of all the Japanese gamers who are pre-ordering their PlayStation Vitas? Don’t be, because Sony have finally announced the Western release date for the Vita since it was unveiled back in January. Jack Tretton, President & CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment made the announcement at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, and luckily it looks like we won’t have to wait too long after Christmas.

On February 22nd, 2012, the PlayStation Vita will be available in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. The Vita will launch with an unprecedented line-up, and already has more than 100 games in development.

In the US, the Wi-Fi only Vita will cost $249, which you can pre-order on Amazon here, and the 3G one will cost $299, which you can pre-order here. UK gamers can pre-order the Wi-Fi here, and the 3G version here. Hurry, Amazon Japan went out of stock of Vitas within an hour!

The only people who might not be happy because of this news are the gamers who spent over $1000 to import a handheld this December.
