The World’s Best Trophy Hunter’s Hardest Platinum Trophies

Editor’s Note: This is a post by A-Hakam “Hakoom” A-Karim, who has over 16,700 trophies and 314 platinums, making him the number one trophy hunter in the world.

I started trophy hunting back when the patch first released in July 2008, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon. My first ever trophy was from Super Stardust HD and my first ever platinum was from Uncharted Drake’s Fortune, but in 3 years of trophy hunting I have encountered some really tough and hard games that are nearly impossible to plat. Read on to find out which platinums I had the most difficulty obtaining.

–  Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

This game has to be one of the hardest platinums to achieve on the PS3. The game is brutally and insanely hard, nothing is easy about the game, especially when you play it on the hardest difficulty or when playing the co-op missions online.

It’s one of those games that just makes you want to give up halfway through playing, but I liked the challenge set by people who said that it’s impossible for a person who plays games like Hanna Montana and Ice Age to platinum a title like Ninja Gaiden. Because of this, I was able to beat the game, and unlock the platinum.

–  WipEout HD

This is a very, very hard racing game. The difficulty occurs when you have some of the trophies left which require you to beat a time attack story on the hardest setting and survive a lot of waves without dying… For me I just never gave up, I just kept on trying and trying and trying.

–  Fight Night Round 4

This isn’t exactly a hard platinum, but rather a stupid one. Why? The reason is simple: You need to get 3 types of belt online – L, Xl and XXL.

What makes this trophy hard is that the belt holders never give it to you and keep swapping it between alternate accounts or friends. It took me one year of begging and asking to finally get them (some even people said that I bought the belts for $300 – but I would say that if someone was to spend $300 for a virtual belt, then they better get their head checked).

–  Nearly all fighting games with Trials

  • BlazBlue
  • Street Fighter 4
  • Super Street Fighter 4
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  • The King of Fighters XIII
  • MK vs. DC

The games were really difficult to plat because they had Combo trials and challenges that are impossible to do unless you are a hardcore fighting game player. For me, I always busted my thumbs and hands playing the trials. It’s physically painful to keep doing the trials for over 2 or 3 hours.

There are many other hard games to platinum like Killzone 2, Operation Flashpoint and Call of Duty Classic, and I have listed a only a few of the ones that I found to be the hardest of all.

If you have one platinum or two hundred platinums, in the end we are all trophy hunters and we all love hunting and unlocking trophies. Each gamer has their own individual hardest game, but what is yours? Let us know in the comments below.
