Final Fantasy Type-0 to Have Right Analog Camera Control and Retain Multiplayer on Vita

Recently released for PSP in Japan, Final Fantasy Type-0 will have right analog stick camera control and retain multiplayer functionality if a player is playing the game on Sony’s upcoming next-gen handheld, the PlayStation Vita.

FFT-0 director Hajime Tabata was answering questions about the game as part of a talk celebrating that the Square Enix Members fan club had passed one million members. Tabata, in a comment about playing the game on the Vita, noted that being able to use the right analog stick for camera control made the game more playable.

Tabata was asked whether or not Final Fantasy Type-0 would be made available through Sony’s PSP UMD Passport Program. Tabata said Square Enix is looking into it. When asked if multiplayer would still function when the game was played on a Vita, a Sony representative said that it wouldn’t be a problem.

He was also asked about a sequel and said that if a sequel was made, the team wasn’t thinking about continuing FFT-0‘s story. He did note that a FFT-0 story sequel was not impossible, recalling how Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura had left development of Compilation of Final Fantasy VII titles to him and how he had tried to leave his games open to future developments.

Tabata had previously said that the overseas version of FFT-0 is in development in the game’s Ultimania guide, but we have a review up for anyone planning on importing the game.
