Ubisoft has announced the first details about the multiplayer beta for upcoming FPS, Far Cry 3.
The closed multiplayer beta will run for two weeks sometime this summer on PSN for PS3 and Xbox Live for Xbox 360. The beta will support up to 16 players, have six playable classes to choose from, and have multiple maps and modes (including Firestorm) available for play. Dozens of weapons and with hundreds of upgrades and customizations will be available for players as well. Gameplay has “teamplay-focused experiences” with support points and weapons, and all classes will be able to revive fallen teammates. Zip-lining, combat sliding, psyche gas and barrel bombs will also be present in gameplay.
So, how do gamers get in?
- GameStop PowerUp Rewards members can purchase Ghost Recon Future Soldier for PS3 or Xbox 360 at GameStop on its release date, May 22nd. They’ll be given an “invitation code” to be redeemed at http://www.gamespot.com/code. When the code is validated, they’ll be given a choice to play on PS3 or Xbox 360. When the beta is live, players will be emailed their actual beta code, which they’ll enter through their console of choice.
- Consumers can enter a contest via Facebook to win one of 500 beta keys at http://www.farcrygame.com/sweeps. Consumers who entered via Facebook and have won a beta code will be notified via email.
- Beta keys will also be distributed through Ubisoft social channels such as farycrygame.com, Ubi.com, along with partner social channels and community and media websites.
Far Cry 3 will release on September 4th.
