Remember when we uncovered a really dumb looking Sony Move peripheral patent and everyone made fun of it? Probably not, but here’s something new to make fun of – the actual product in the flesh… er, plastic.
Proudly announced by Sr. Manager of Brand Marketing Anand Agarwal, the controller is on display on the PS Blog – perhaps even Sony realized it wasn’t worth showing the thing off during their conference. The brand new peripheral for the PS3 is titled the “PlayStation Move Racing Wheel”
Highlighted features include:
- Precise motion tracking for responsive handling of your vehicle
- An innovative folding grip design will allow you to switch between racing a sports bike to a high-octane supercar
- Feel the intense vibration feedback of your vehicle as you trade paint with the competition
- Experience realistic gameplay action using the race car paddle shifters and motorcycle twist throttle controls
The controller will be available this fall for $39.99 and support upcoming racing games like LittleBigPlanet Karting, and golden oldies like “Gran Turismo 5, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise [wait, what?], MotorStorm Apocalypse, and more.”
With this patent now becoming true, it doesn’t make me wonder what other patents we’ve uncovered will come true – will Sony ever release a PlayStation Doll that can cry, or even a camera that can watch you cry and inform some creepy database? One shudders at the thought.
