Best of E3 2012 Award Winners

With so many ground-breaking, jaw-dropping, underwear-staining, all-around awesome games at E3, it’s immensely difficult to select the best of the best. But it’s a responsibility we take very seriously here at PlayStation LifeStyle. After much deliberation, many sleepless nights, and a few fist-fights, the PSLS E3 team has narrowed down the hundreds among thousands of games at E3 to just ten. Take heed that the following ten games were the best on display at E3, and will be the best games of the coming two (or more) years.

Here are the best ten games of E3, in no particular order.

The Last of Us

  • Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment of America
  • Developer: Naughty Dog
  • Release Date: TBA 2013
  • Quote from preview: “A perfect example of just how bleak the world has become is discovered in another hotel room, where a corpse is found in a bathtub, wrists slit and bled out. Suicide is less painful than facing the pandemic plaguing the world.”

Dead Space 3

  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Developer: Visceral Games
  • Release Date: Early 2013
  • Quote from preview: “…Dead Space 3 is no longer bound by the iron corridors of its predecessors. Instead, nearly the entire demonstration was shown in a frigid environment layered with icy halls, dark facilities, and expansive outdoor environments littered with snow.”

Beyond: Two Souls

  • Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment of America
  • Developer: Quantic Dream
  • Release Date: TBA 2013
  • Quote from preview: “Much like Heavy Rain before it, Quantic Dream allows failure, citing a desire for players to deal with the consequences of their actions. At anytime in the train escape, players can allow Jodie to be arrested, either immediately after the police board the train, or while running from car to car, or while fighting off would be assailants on the roof of the train.”

Tomb Raider

  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Developer: Crystal Dynamics
  • Release Date: March 5, 2013
  • Quote from preview: “…as the weight of her actions is clearly reflected in the horror on her bloodied face. This marks the beginning of Lara’s transformation into the tomb raiding heroine she’ll one day become, and after witnessing that spectacle first hand, all I can say is, March can’t come soon enough.”

Injustice: Gods Among Us

  • Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
  • Developer: NetherRealm Stuidos
  • Release Date: TBA 2013
  • Quote from preview: “Injustice: Gods Among Us takes the iconic DC super heroes you’ve come to know and love and lets them beat the snot out of each other. Despite the fact that Batman, Superman, and The Flash have faced off with the likes of Scorpion and Subzero, Injustice seems much more brutal than MK Vs DCU.”

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

  • Publisher: Konami
  • Developer: Platinum Games
  • Release Date: Early 2013
  • Quote from preview: “The game is unbelievably slick and feels fast and stable, despite being an early 2013 release. PlatinumGames, although not typically associated with Metal Gear, has made a game that brings the feel of some of Raiden’s attacks from MGS4‘s cutscenes and blends it with Bayonetta-infused flair.”

Assassin’s Creed III

  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Release Date: October 30, 2012
  • Quote from preview: “With all that we’ve seen of Assassin’s Creed 3 thus far, it’s hard to image how this game could possibly fail in delivering an amazing experience. There’s a lot of hype behind Ubisoft’s game right now, and from what I saw at E3 last week, I’m confident that AC3 will not only meet, but exceed the expectations…”
