Final Fantasy III, not to be confused with Final Fantasy VI – or Final Fantasy III for those of us who purchased the game outside of Japan for Super Nintendo – will be arriving on the PlayStation Network next week for download on PSP.
Yes, you read that correctly the PlayStation Portable, not the Vita. The classic RPG was first remade for the Nintendo DS a few years ago and then was released for iOS. It’s that same remastered version that will be coming to the PSP, which explains why it’s was not optimized for the Vita.
That however, doesn’t mean a few changes haven’t been made to take advantage of Sony’s handheld device. According to the PlayStation Blog, a handful of tweaks have been made to make this the best version of the game yet. “New features for the PSP version include: graphics optimized for the 16:9 screen, an image gallery, an option to switch to the original BGM, and an auto-battle system that doubles the speed of combat.”
Final Fantasy III will be available starting Tuesday, September 25th.
