God of War: Ascension Live Action Trailer Released, Shows Kratos Tearing Up

Before Sony teased us with the PlayStation Meeting coming up on the 20th of this month, a previous teaser was falsely thought to be a PS4 teaser by many news outlets (we, of course, saw right through it and avoided jumping on the PS4 hype). Presumably after reading Seb’s article about teasing teasers, and to avoid taking away from their impending PlayStation Meeting announcement, Sony quickly released an updated teaser clarifying that it was indeed for a live action God of War trailer that would air during the online broadcast of the Super Bowl, but would release for viewing on February 1st.

Well February 1st is here which means that Sony has released the trailer for all to enjoy (thanks for the heads up, Akeemo!). Hot on the heels of Anthony’s God of War: Ascension hands-on preview, we’re bringing the trailer to you. This is arguably one of the best live-action video game trailers that Sony has released. The emotion conveyed is very strong and suggests a much more human Kratos, which is something that the developers have been touting about this game. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think:

Does the trailer influence your decision to buy God of War: Ascension? Do these types of live-action trailers work for advertising video games or should they stick to game footage only? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget that we always welcome your feedback about the site.
