At around the time the PlayStation Store updated earlier today, many people reported seeing various games pop up for free on PlayStation Plus, but when they went to purchase the supposedly free titles, they were charged for them.
This issue has led to the introduction of a new official forum post by Morgan Haro on the PlayStation Community Site, with him mentioning exactly what the problem is and that they are aware of it:
We’re aware of reports that the PSN game Alien Breed was listed as “Free” for Plus members for a period of time in the lead up to the 2/12 Store Publish. This product should now be listed correctly as a Plus discounted game, however I’m hearing that some saw a “free” listing, and were charged.
I will examine the issue and determine possible affected users. I’m blocking new replies for this post so you’re welcome to Subscribe to this thread to follow updates when they’re made by an SCEA rep. If there was in fact an issue, we will ensure that those affected are taken care of.
In a recent update, the following games, in addition to Alien Breed, and DLC were also noted to be wrongly priced at $0:
- Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
- NBA 2K13
- Rayman 3 HD
- Minions Super Pack 1 for PS All Stars Battle Royale
- King of Fighters XIII DLC
They point you towards this (now pretty big) thread to voice your feedback and situation, but Morgan did say that it could take until tomorrow, February 13th until he hears anything, though it was mentioned on the PS Blog that everyone will be taken care of:
To be clear, these games affected were not supposed to be free in Plus. However, we’re ensuring that since these ‘non-free’ games were marked as ‘free’ that we’ll take care of those affected.
We’ll do our best to update you on this, though if you happen to notice it resolved before we get a chance to mention it, please send an email to [email protected].
Update 1: A user on the forums said that they phoned Sony and were told that they “will check the problem and I may get a refund in 10 to 15 days.” With the problem so wide spread now, there’s a chance they may expedite that process, but we’ll let you know.
Update 2: People on the forums are also saying that they saw other items such as NBA 2K13, The Clash songs for Rocksmith, other Minions DLC for PS All-Stars, The Pinball Arcade Pack 7 DLC, and more mistakenly listed as free.
Update 3: You can call Sony’s customer service at 1-800-345-7669 to talk with them directly.
