If you’re itching for more Dead Space after completing Dead Space 3 (our February Game of the Month) and it’s numerous modes, you won’t have to wait too long to scratch that itch. Dead Space 3‘s story based DLC, Awakened, will be coming to the PSN on Tuesday March 12th (March 13th for EU) for $9.99. This news comes on the heels of rumors that EA had axed Dead Space due to poor sales.
The story will immediately follow the events of the main game and feature Isaac and Carver, so you can expect a return of co-op. I haven’t had a chance to check out Awakened yet, but in Daniel Bischoff’s preview for the DLC on Game Revolution, he seems optimistic for Awakened to deliver on the promise to visit the most “horrific, vile, and violent terrors” that we’ve seen in a Dead Space game as we dive into Isaac’s dementia once again. If you read my review for Dead Space 3, you’ll know that the dementia and psychological terror elements were notoriously absent from the main game, so it’s refreshing to hear that the DLC may have redeeming qualities as Isaac loses control of his own mind again.
If you are still curious about Awakened and what it will feature, you’ll want to check out the trailer right here.
