Bandai Namco could not have timed the release of the PSP-exclusive RPG Summon Night 5 more perfectly. It arrived on the market with virtually no competition, and thereby took the title as the best-selling game in Japan during its release week. Other games near the top were the same that have dominated the charts for a while now. The numbers themselves are not high, as Japanese sales all around were in a bit of a slump, but the ranking positions of Animal Crossing, Friend Collection, and Luigi’s Mansion remain near the top. Here are the 20 best-selling games in Japan for the week ending May 19, according to Media Create (figures measured in thousands).

This week sees the release of Valhalla Knights 3 for Vita. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s enough to lift it out of yet another sales slumps. Fortunately, the slump isn’t just for Vita. The 3DS sales this week set a new low for a weekly performance post-price-drop. The floor had previously been about 44 thousand, which it reached in July of last year.
