The Catch-Up: April 16th, 2014 – Sony Unveils 4K Bravia TVs With PlayStation Now

Pffft, I’ll just wait for 8K TVs in a few years.

General News

  • Eliminating the need to have a game console to use the service, Sony Electronics revealed their new line of Bravia 4K Ultra HD TVs this week, with each of them including access to PlayStation Now (a DualShock 3 is still required though). Priced between $2,100 and $25,000 USD, the 9 models are set to launch in June 2014. [Via, More Info]
  • Following its launch on PS4 this week, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn now has over 2 million registered accounts worldwide across PS4, PS3, and PC. [Press Release]
  • GT Academy 2014 starts on April 21st and is open to all entrants through June 16th. Canadians (except those in Quebec) will be able to join the competition this time around. [Source, More Info]
  • Battlefield 4, Year Walk, The Swapper, Resogun, Teslagrad, Forced, and 140 are all nominated for the Best Nordic Game of the Year 2014. The awards ceremony will take place on May 22nd. [Press Release]

  • PS1 classics Bust-a-Move 4 will be coming to PS1 Classics in North America this Spring! [Press Release]
  • If your mic isn’t working in Minecraft: PS3 Edition after downloading patch 1.05, 4J says, “It seems you need to reboot the first time after getting Patch 1.05 for the mics to work.” [Twitter]
  • Cel Damage HD will be releasing for the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita on April 22nd in North America. A European launch will follow at an unspecified date. [Source]

  • Launching for the PS Vita on April 22nd/23rd, Starlight Inception on PS3 has been submitted to Sony QA for SCEA and SCEE territories. [Twitter]
  • In case you haven’t grabbed it yet, the inFamous: Second Son Official Soundtrack is free on the PlayStation Store right now “as a thanks for supporting the spectacular launch.” [Get It]
  • At least in Europe, Yu-Gi-Oh! Millenium Duels on PS3 is “penciled for next week currently.” We’ll let you know if we hear anything more about the game’s release date. [Source]
