Ubisoft’s CEO Wants More Time to Polish Games and Improve Testing

Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has said that he wants to wrap up games earlier in order to allow ample time to polish them and improve testing. Speaking to MCV, Guillemot said that by doing so, he hopes to reduce buggy releases.

These comments came in light of Ubisoft facing some heavy criticism due to unpolished releases. Previously, the developer was scrutinized for the buggy release of Assassin’s Creed 3, and more recently, it has been criticized for Watch Dogs, a game that was already delayed.

We were tweaking Watch Dogs right until the last minute, we changed some things right at the end. So what we have decided to do is finish the game earlier so that we can test things more and more and change a certain number of parameters.

Guillemot has said that one of the suggested ways of speeding up the development process it to reuse assets that people wouldn’t care about.

Do you think reducing development cycles will help address the issue of unpolished releases? Let us know your thoughts.
