While the prospect of seeing Robert Downey Jr. star as Leonardo da Vinci in an Assassin’s Creed movie might be a sight to see, that’ll have to wait; as Twentieth Century Fox is pushing the movie’s release schedule from next year to 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “insiders” are saying that the film’s script has gone through “several rewrites,” and that the production itself has grappled with scheduling issues.
The Assassin’s Creed movie will star Michael Fassbender (X-Men, Prometheus) in the lead role, who’s mentioned that he wants to “respect” the game it’s based on. Given that the film hasn’t even started filming yet, the delay isn’t that big of a surprise, I admit.
Do you even want a movie based on Assassin’s Creed or should Ubisoft stop this since it might do more harm than good?
