Canned Pre-Alpha Star Wars Battlefront 3 Footage Makes Its Way Online

Battlefront

While DICE is hard at work on the next iteration of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise for EA, pre-alpha footage of Free Radical’s (TimeSplitters) cancelled Battlefront 3 title has made its way online.

As it is in pre-alpha, the gameplay seen below is rough around the edges, but does offer a peek at what could have been had the game been released. The combined 30-minute footage shows off the Hoth and Coruscant levels, with both infantry and vehicle-based combat.

According to the uploader, this is from an Xbox 360 build and is from 2007.

Some footage of the build of Star Wars Battlefront 3 that got canceled. This build is from 2007 and was ported over from the PC. This content is not mine, it is the property of Disney. No copyright intended, this is purely for review of the build. The game looked very fun to play and runs pretty well other then the obvious frame rate drops. It is very sad that this game got canceled although there is one being made by DICE now. This is being run on an Xbox 360 for those of you that got confused.

Here’s the second part, which is also 15-minutes long.

What do you make of the footage so far? Did it deserve to be cancelled or does it look good enough compared to the usual Star Wars games we’re subjected to?
