Far Cry 4 is one of the most anticipated games of 2014. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks beautiful, engaging, and unique. But what makes things even more interesting is the fact that Far Cry 4 shares its release date with a number of other highly anticipated titles including Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V and BioWare’s Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Far Cry 4 Isn't Far Cry 3.5
Executive Producer David Hay revealed that the development team had the option to create Far Cry 3.5 by expanding Jason's story. However, the team opted for a brand new game.

Inspired by Real-Life Events
Far Cry 4's story is inspired by the Nepalese civil war. The developers spent time learning about the conflict and said that they didn't want to misrepresent real-life events.

Bringing Kyrat to Life
The development team behind Far Cry 4 sought inspiration from South Asia for its in-game world of Kyrat. Upon visiting Nepal, the developers observed life in the region to bring players an authentic experience.

Ajay Ghale
Protagonist Ajay Ghale is a "Kyrat native, devoted son," and the villain Pagan Min’s "guest of honor." He returned to Kyrat to fulfill his dying mother's wish.
Ghale's relationship with Min is an interesting one because we're told that Min isn't "after" him.

Pagan Min
Far Cry 4's villain, Pagan Min, is nothing like Vaas. Born in Hong Kong, he's an ambitious individual who went on to build a fortune following the death of his father, a mid-level drug boss in the Golden Triangle. Find out more about Min in this video.

Meet Yuma
We're not sure if Yuma is as fierce in the game as she looks, but her description leads us to believe that she might be! Ubisoft says that she's a “deadly tactician, general of the Royal Army, and Pagan Min’s right-hand woman.”

Map Size
Far Cry 4's map size is the same as Far Cry 3's. However, Senior Level Designer, Vincent Ouellette, has said that the game's map is denser than the previous one, and offers more activities.

Length and Resolution
Creative Director Alex Hutchinson said that Far Cry 4 will probably take 35 hours on average to complete. We're also told that the game will not feature 1080p and 60 frames-per-second (fps) because Ubisoft would have to "simplify the art" for it.

Free Multiplayer
Ubisoft has assured us that Far Cry 4's multiplayer mode will not be locked behind a paywall. Yes, that's right, it's free for all!

Battles of Kyrat
Ubisoft unveiled the Battles of Kyrat multiplayer mode in this video. Fighting as both the Golden Path and Rakshasa in round-based combat, Battles of Kyrat will have you fighting in three different game modes: Outpost , Propaganda, and Demon Mask.
