Effectively replacing the VGAs/VGX, The Game Awards 2014 was announced today and will take place on Friday, December 5 at 9pm ET/6pm PT from the AXIS Theater in Las Vegas.
Calling it a “new show created specifically to acknowledge the place of video games at the center of modern entertainment and culture,” The Game Awards is being produced by Geoff Keighley, with an advisory board consisting of Reggie Fils-Aime (President and COO, Nintendo of America), Yves Guillemot (Co-Founder and CEO, Ubisoft), Hideo Kojima (Executive Contents Director, Kojima Productions), Shawn Layden (CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment America), Peter Moore (COO, Electronic Arts), Rockstar Games, Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox, Microsoft), Martin Tremblay (President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment), and Valve helping to guide things.
If you’re interested in attending, tickets will go on sale via TicketMaster tomorrow, November 11 for $45. Can’t attend? The official website says, “You can watch the The Game Awards right here from anywhere around the world on Friday, December 5 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, as well as watch it on PlayStation Network, Steam, Xbox Live, and many other sites and platforms.”
