2014 held many games that you probably heard about, but you may not have heard that there were many games that flew under the radar as well. From some indie titles, to quiet games that went unnoticed as other heavy hitters buried their release. Here’s what the PSLS staff had to say about the more obscure titles that they played last year.

The Swapper was my favorite obscure game that I played last year, but now that it’s a Plus free game, it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves. I also really loved Danganronpa 2 on my Vita, which is in no way a mainstream game.

It would probably have to be Farming Simulator 2015. It’s pretty impressive! I just wish there was more than crop farming and basic animal farming.

My favorite obscure game from 2014 is actually a game that isn’t even out yet, it is that obscure. In 2014 I was asked to be a judge for Indie Prize, and came across a little title called Apsis, which I have mentioned on Bad Gamers in the past. Sadly, the game is only set to be a PC and Mobile title, but even still, I would recommend people keep an eye on it.

Tetris Ultimate kept me entertained for a couple of hours the other week. I attempted multiplayer, but failed to find a single game. So niche and obscure!

I really liked CounterSpy. It has colorful artwork, fun missions, and awesome unlockables. Oh, and its replay value is very high! I also thought Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments was an under-hyped game. The dialogue is fantastic, and the missions are riffs off of actual Sherlock Holmes stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle. Great game is you are looking for a mystery, puzzler sort of thing.

I loved Ragnarok Odyssey Ace. Its older brother was released in 2012, but Ragnarok Odyssey Ace was an updated and enhanced version of the original that also included a PS3 version with cross play between PS3 and Vita. With Capcom being jerks and not releasing a Monster Hunter game on a PlayStation platform since the 2008 Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, I needed my fix of monster murder. It wasn’t a 10/10 but it was fun to play, and especially easy to pick up for a mission or two on my Vita when I was waiting for something.
