Who's Behind It?
The Order: 1886 is being brought to you by none other than Ready at Dawn Studios LLC in collaboration with SCE Santa Monica Studio. The game's directors are Ru Weerasuriya and Dana Jan.
PS4 Exclusivity
Ready at Dawn has had a relationship with Sony for ten years. But what about a PS3 version? Weerasuriya explains that the studio wanted to stick to a single platform that could help the team realize the game they wanted. The Order: 1886 is also designed to showcase the PS4’s power, and Ready at Dawn claims that the title’s graphical fidelity couldn’t have been achieved with other consoles.
The Story
Set in alternate history London, the game is an action-adventure, third-person shooter in which a group of knights hunt half-breeds to keep the world safe. The game features four main protagonists, with the central protagonist being Grayson aka Sir Galahad. Check out the story trailer to find out more about the conflict between humans and half-breeds.
The Order: 1886 has been awarded a mature rating by ESRB for blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, sexual content, and strong language.
No Alternate Endings
The Order: 1886 is designed to be a story-driven, linear experience and has only one ending . However, we’re promised that it’s going to be a “compelling one” since the game focuses and relies heavily on its story and narrative.
The Protagonists
Sebastian Malory, the oldest knight, bears the name of Sir Percival.
Grayson, a close friend of Malory, bears the name of Sir Galahad.
Isabeau D'Argyll , Grayson’s apprentice, bears the name of Lady Igraine.
Marquis de Lafayette, French military officer, does not bear the name of a Knight.
As previously mentioned, Grayson is the central protagonist in the game. And if you want to see what he’s capable of, watch this video to see him tear some enemies apart.
The Antagonists
Lycans aka half-breeds are The Order: 1886 ’s antagonists. They are extremely strong, resilient to gunshots, and pose a great threat to humans. Lycans also have the ability to contaminate humans. Watch what they did to poor little Bobby Paige.
Choice of Weapons
Players will have an assortment of weapons at their disposal, including fantastical ones. Carbine, Coach Gun, Maschinenpistole, Arc Rifle – you name it. Weearsuriya has said that weapons are designed to offer diversity in combat and reflect the game’s settings. You can find out more about the weapons in this developer’s diary , and if you wish to see them in action, check out <
Controls
This tutorial video details how controls work in The Order: 1886 . It covers aspects such as taking cover, firing, peeking over cover and more. Weerasuriya previously said that the studio will avoid overly complex controller input as that can kill an immersive core experience.
Framerate and Resolution
The Order: 1886 will run at 1080p and 30 frames-per-second. Additionally, the game will be presented in 2.40:1 aspect ratio to look like a widescreen movie. According to Weerasuriya , “Higher framerate doesn’t equate to better. The framerate has to satisfy the experience you want to have.”
Trophies
