Capcom: “Deep Down Will Take a Little More Time to Finish,” Isn’t Cancelled

Earlier this month, Capcom Producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that they were going to be a “little quiet” on Deep Down, their PlayStation 4 exclusive, as they work on it, but some big news may come later this year.

These words seem to have sparked some concern over the game’s development, causing Ono to confirm in a recent interview with 4Gamer (via Gematsu) that it’s still in development:

Deep Down will take a little more time to finish. There seems to be rumors that development has come to a stop, but those aren’t true.

While it could be some time before this actually happens, Ono continued by saying that they “hope to show you something truly different from what was shown previously. In fact, since we announced it, the framework behind it has grown much larger to the point that what we had before may well have been a dud.”

Because of the long-term challenges with launching an online title, Ono adds that a game must have the necessary parts created in time for launch, otherwise “players won’t stick around long even if it’s interesting.” In the case of Deep Down, they were concerned it wouldn’t “initially establish itself well with consumers, so we decided to put aside more time so we could perfect it.”

Do you think Deep Down will launch in Japan by the end of 2015?
