Sony on gamescom 2015: No Streams Planned, “Some Good Stuff” From Third Party Partners

While Sony will be present at gamescom 2015 this week, they decided to forgo holding a big press conference and will instead be presenting an “international media briefing” at Paris Games Week on October 27, 2015.

If you were hoping that Sony might be holding daily livestreams with developer interviews and gameplay demos like they did at E3 2015 though, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Blog Manager Fred Dutton said:

No, we’ve not got a stream this year – look out for us at Paris instead. However, we do have some good stuff lined up here on the blog from our third party partners.

So far, we know some of the “good stuff” from third party developers will be the unveiling of Mafia III, new details on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Need for Speed, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, The Surge, and much more. There will be also be an EA press conference on Wednesday, August 5 at 12:30am PT/3:30am ET.

Dutton also explained why you don’t see nearly as many games up for pre-order in Europe on the PlayStation Store:

The SCEE region is rather more complex than Japan and the US. The SCEE ‘store’ is actually made up of 40+ different regional stores split by language and country, where as JP and NA manage one or two each. Duly, building a pre-order is a considerably more challenging undertaking in SCEE than it is elsewhere, due to our geographical intricacies. It is something the team are working on though, and you should hopefully see more happening in the future.

Are you excited for gamescom this week?
