In its latest shareholder outreach document, Take-Two revealed that Red Dead Redemption has shipped more than 14 million copies since launch in 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Once again noting that Redemption “rejuvenated the western entertainment genre,” this new sales figure means Take-Two shipped a million copies in the last year, as it was at 13 million back in September 2014.
As for the Red Dead Redemption DLC, which included Undead Nightmare, they have been “commercially successful.”
Looking at some other Take-Two franchises, Grand Theft Auto as a whole has shipped over 220 million units lifetime, while the Borderlands series is sitting at 26 million shipped.
While there’s been no word of another Red Dead game, Take-Two has called it a “permanent” franchise. Additionally, in their new document they say, “We build compelling franchises by publishing a select number of titles for which we can create sequels and incremental revenue opportunities.”
Do you think we’ll hear more about a new Red Dead in 2016?
