Game-Breaking Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Mission Bug May Corrupt Save Files

Update:

The Metal Gear Twitter account adds:

The Metal Gear Community Manager also said, “If you have done those missions with Quiet and did not have issues, you may still run into it if you repeat 29 or 42 with Quiet.”

Original Story:

Discovered earlier today by Konami, a game-breaking bug in missions 29 and 42 of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain may end up corrupting your save file.

Affecting the game on all platforms (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC), this bug occurs when using Quiet during either of those missions.

Here’s Konami’s workaround:

In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which was released on September 1st, 2015 there is a possibility that the game stops progress if having Quiet as a buddy while playing “Mission 29” or “Mission 42”. This situation can be avoided by not using Quiet as a buddy while playing either “Mission 29” or “Mission 42”.

We deeply apologize, and appreciate your patience for further announcements regarding this issue.

Over on Konami Europe’s Twitter account, they warn that this bug may corrupt your save file, so be careful:

Also, if you’re wondering about the servers, Konami upgraded them after the emergency maintenance on September 4 in an effort to reduce the burden on the database. You can follow along to the latest server status over here.

Have you experienced the game-breaking mission bug?
