Backlash Ensues Over Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Nuketown Bonus Map in the UK

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3‘s Nuketown map, which was supposed to be a pre-order bonus, has become the subject of a backlash against Activision in the UK. Apparently, the publisher’s promotional material implied that those who pre-ordered the game, regardless of where they purchase it from, will get Nuketown. However, that’s not the case.

We’ve learned that there was a very easy-to-miss small print, which pointed out that the map was exclusive to retailer GAME. Oddly, even Activsion wasn’t too sure of that because over on its support page (now updated), the publisher clearly stated that “all players” who pre-ordered the game would receive the bonus. Needless to say, everyone was left confused including the company itself, prompting retailers like Tesco to respond on its behalf until the support website was updated. Fans aren’t happy, of course, but it remains to be seen whether Activision will make it up to players for the blooper or not.

Nuketown is supposed to remain GAME-exclusive until Spring 2016 so if you’re really desperate to get your hands on the map, some folks are already selling their codes on eBay for £20 each!

In other Black Ops 3 news, there are still reports of players experiencing server issues in various regions. Activision Support is asking people to restart their consoles and download the latest update to resolve the problem.
