Overwatch PS4, Xbox One & PC Release Date is May 24, Open Beta Starts May 5 (Update)

Update:

Blizzard confirmed that Overwatch is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 24 in North America and Europe.

By pre-ordering Overwatch in North America, you’ll receive early access (for you and a friend) to the open beta from May 3 to May 4. Then, the open beta opens for everyone from May 5 to May 9.

Here’s what you’ll find in the beta:

We know how important and meaningful it can be to try out a game before buying it. We also want to make sure you get a really good sense of what the full game will be like, so we’re making all 21 heroes and all maps and game modes available in the Open Beta — that way you can really start to get a handle on the game’s central concepts, like roles, counters, and hero-switching, in a variety of different map types. The early access portion of the Open Beta is our small way of thanking players who’ve invested in Overwatch early. Your belief in the game means a lot to us.

Original Story:

According to an ad that appeared on IGN recently, Overwatch from Blizzard will be releasing on May 24 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Additionally, a separate ad says those who pre-order before April 29 will receive early access to the upcoming open beta on May 3. Presumably, the open beta would go live for everyone shortly after.

May 24 fits in with Blizzard’s previously given spring 2016 launch window for Overwatch, but since nothing official has come from them yet, treat this as a rumor for now.

Overwatch is a highly stylized team-based shooter set on earth in the near future,” the above video’s description reads. “Choose from a diverse cast of heroes, master extraordinary abilities, and do battle across the globe.”

What do you think of Overwatch potentially releasing near the end of May?
