As you may have seen earlier today, EA talked about their upcoming plans for the Star Wars franchise over the next few years, which includes projects from developers like DICE, Respawn, Visceral, and even Criterion.
Going further in-depth on their website, EA revealed that 2016 will feature three new Star Wars Battlefront expansions – including Bespin (June 21) and Death Star (fall 2016). This also means that DLC Pack 4, which is still untitled, has been moved up from early 2017 to December 2016.
2016 will also see the release of “an exclusive Star Wars Battlefront VR mission for PlayStation VR,” which is being developed by Criterion and DICE.
Looking ahead to 2017, DICE and Motive Studios are working on the Star Wars Battlefront sequel, which EA says will offer a significant new addition and innovations in new areas:
Our team at Motive team is growing quickly, and making great progress in building out a significant new addition to the game. While we’re not ready to get into specifics right now, we have started development of this game by listening to all of the feedback we received, while also innovating in new areas I think you’re all going to be excited about.
Then, in 2018, the new action adventure game from Visceral Games will debut.
Finally, simply listed as coming out “beyond” 2018, Respawn’s 3rd person action adventure game “features a different style of gameplay and takes place in a different timeline we have yet to explore with our EA Star Wars titles.”
EA also teased that they’re “early in pre-production on some other projects we think you’re going to be excited about as well.”
