Announced for North American release last month, the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition is also coming to Europe, SEGA confirmed today. Available exclusively through Amazon in the UK, France, Germany, and Spain for £79.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the limited Collector’s Edition will launch alongside Sonic Mania in spring 2017.
Sonic Pillar Chief Brand Officer Ivo Gerscovich said, “We’ve been thrilled with the European fan excitement surrounding Sonic Mania. While we weren’t able to announce the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition simultaneously with North America, we are now pleased to announce it’s available for pre-order for Europe. Our fans across the world are important to us.”
Along with a digital copy of Sonic Mania, the Collector’s Edition includes a 12-inch Sonic statue on top of a replicated but non-working SEGA Mega Drive console that plays the SEGA startup audio when the power switch is flipped and a SEGA cartridge cast with a gold ring inside.
As SEGA explains, Sonic Mania is a “completely new title and harkens back to the iconic Zones and Acts from previous classic Sonic titles by adding in new elements and Easter Eggs.” Running at 60 frames-per-second, Sonic Mania lets you choose between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and each character has special traits, such as Sonic’s new Drop Dash, Tails’ flight, and Knuckles’ climbing.
